Dear Haiti

Serving yellow & orange half saree and peacock necklace.

This week’s jungle book is about a Haitian American named Alaina Beauparlant. When she gets in trouble at school in Miami, she gets suspended and has to do a spring project for her Aunt’s nonprofit in Haiti. This book is great if you’re interested in family curses, Haitian politics, complicated mother daughter relationships, first generation Hatian American stories, and family drama.

I wasn’t a huge fan of the plot towards the end but I recommend for those interested in Haitian American representation.
